This night will be a night of recognition for our patrolling
life savers, surf sports participants and the dedicated workers
who faithfully serve as instructors, coaches, organisers,
examiners and officials.

from Surf House.

New
IRB Hull Development

With
a clear focus on reducing injuries resulting from IRBs it
is encouraging to see manufacturers assisting with the development
of 'soft ride' hull designs. SLSA has concentrated on introducing
more responsible driving and crewing of IRBs with an associated
change in the format of IRB racing to make it more akin to
moderate rescue situations.

John
Meehan - SLSA Life Membership

It
was a proud moment for the Meehan family at the recent Australian
Surf Life Saving Championships where John Meehan was presented
with Life Membership of Surf Life Saving Australia. John chose
to proudly wear his Illawarra shirt in respect of the Illawarra
Branch as the place where his service to Surf Life Saving
all began. Pictured above is John with very supportive wife
Sue and proud sons Chris on the left and Mick on the right.
New
Quad Bike Training & Qualification

Steve
Gall from the ATV Safety Institute in NSW ran a pilot ATV
training course at Kurrawa to help develop future training
and qualifications for the use of quad bikes in Surf Life
Saving. Those clubs who gained an ATV through the YAMAHA sponsorship
were invited to participate and benefit from the full day
of training.
