Helensburgh Stanwell Park Carnival

On Saturday 2nd November Helensburgh Stanwell Park SLSC hosted a very successful junior and senior carnival.

Wave of the day went to Luke Taylor from the Helensburgh Stanwell Park Club. Whilst coming 3rd last in the board leg of the U/11 Ironman he paddled onto a monster. Luke described the moment "I could hear my age manager Chris Crilley scream, we always have big waves at our beach and I was so excited to catch a big one. Everyone on the beach was cheering" Go Luke! The wave carried Luke straight through to 2nd place at the end of the board leg. He finished the event a proud 4th place. Well done Luke.

Picture above shows Luke Taylor running up the beach to the cheers of all.

Fund-raising

Toothbrush Island Ski & Surf Boat Marathon

Sunday the 10th of November saw the inaugural running of the Toothbrush Island Ski and Surf Boat Marathon. Corrimal SLSC did a great job of organising the event. Jeff Venning co-ordinated the widespread water safety and whale watch operation. The open section was won by Bulli crew:Fred Smeaton, Anthony Meades, Aaron Davis, Lachlan W. and Paul Jones. Corrimal's womens crew of Belinda Dunn, Alicia Dunn, Nicola Dunn, Kellie Maitland and Tony Cartwright carved up their opposition and the only U19 crew in the event Coledale did a commendable job in completing the event.

Warilla Bowls South Coast Boat Series

Austinmer hosted the first round at Thirroul beach and Illawarra boat crews performed well.

The division winners at each carnival receive cash prizes of $200 for the Opens and $100 for all other divisions. Their is a lucky draw prize of a sweep oar and Bermagui took it home this time. The series has 85 crews entered so far with a number of crews coming in later in the season. Organisers are extremely greatful for the job done by Les Nichols and Don Allan in laying the course, dragging the crews out of the break all day and then packing the course up in the afternoon while everyone else went off to Beaches for the presentation.

Corrimal above put in a mighty performance to finish 2nd behind Austinmer Blue in the opens. Corrimal won the reserves ahead of Bulli Maroon and Coledale. Batemans Bay won the womens ahead of Corrimal Black with Moruya taking out the U/21s and Broulee Surfers the U/19s. The next round is at Mollymook on Sat 7th December.
